Hope

Hope is a four letter word, such as love and life.

We look for her in dark matters, and in inky waters.

I row in the Stygian waves.

In your coffin I placed two pennies, one for the ferryman and one to remember me by.

We floated for a while more in our unholy ways.
I saw us crashing, and thrashing below the circling sky.

I wave, gesticulate, and call out your name.

But your hands stay clasped, fingers laced and latched.

I watch the walls divide.

Hope.

I watched her pass me by.
